Job summary

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a Premises Officer to maintain a safe, clean and attractive learning environment. The role is a permanent 52‑week contract on a 15–20 hour weekly pattern, with working hours to be agreed.

The successful candidate will open/close the site, oversee maintenance, ensure health & safety, liaise with contractors, and lead the premises team to support cleaning staff and overall site wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in premises or facilities management is desirable.
• Good organisational and planning skills.
• Ability to liaise with contractors and oversee works.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the site ensuring safety and security.
• Ensure maintenance of buildings and environment is effectively undertaken.
• Be responsible for the health & safety of the site.
• Undertake repairs and DIY projects and identify works needed.
• Liaise with contractors, arrange quotes and oversee repairs.
• Lead a premises team and support cleaning staff development.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and well‑maintained school environment.

PREMISES OFFICER

The Governors of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a Premises Officer to help us look after our school, to work as a member of the whole staff team to ensure the children are provided with a safe, clean and attractive learning environment which will enhance their achievement and enjoyment. Permanent 52 week contract - Grade 6 Point 9-12 £27,254 – £28,598 - Grade 7 Point 14-19 £29,540 - £32,061 pro rata. 15 – 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday (working pattern to be agreed) We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Premises Officer

• To open and/or close the site ensuring safety and security
• To ensure that the management and maintenance of the school buildings and environment are effectively undertaken
• To be responsible for the health & safety of the site
• To undertake repairs and DIY projects, and be proactive in identifying works required and areas for improvement
• To liaise with contractors, arranging quotes and overseeing repairs and building projects
• To create and maintain an effective premises team ensuring that the changing needs of the school are met through training and development of the cleaning staff
• To ensure a clean, tidy and well-maintained school environment.
