Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical (Building Services)

CLIENT
An exclusive opportunity for a Preconstruction Manager to join a leading mechanical and electrical engineering contractor based in Belfast. With a strong reputation for excellence across major commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial projects, Stothers are renowned for delivering innovative and fully integrated building services solutions throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Ideal Person

You will be an experienced Building Services professional with a background in preconstruction, design management, or contract management. Qualified to degree or HNC/HND level (or equivalent experience), you will have a strong technical understanding of M&E design, compliance, and BIM processes.

You'll be commercially aware, highly organised, and confident leading design consultants and internal teams to develop efficient, compliant, and cost-effective building services designs.

Responsibilities

As a Preconstruction Manager, you will have a wide range of responsibilities including:

  • Managing the development of building services designs from concept through to completion.
  • Engaging and managing design consultants and specialists, ensuring deliverables and timescales are achieved.
  • Overseeing Contractor Design Portions (CDP) to develop robust and cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Leading design workshops and attending project meetings as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Standards, and Codes of Practice.
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost plans and supporting commercially advantageous design and procurement strategies.
  • Managing the BIM process in collaboration with the internal Revit team to produce fully coordinated installation models.
  • Preparing and issuing technical submittals for client approval.
  • Liaising with delivery teams throughout the design phase to provide updates on progress, programming, and commercial issues.
  • Managing contracts during design, including applications, early warnings, and compensation events where applicable.
Remuneration

Competitive salary - £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE) + excellent company benefits including:
