Job summary

OpenWorks Engineering is seeking a Goods-In Quality Inspector to grow within a hands-on engineering environment. You will ensure materials and components meet high standards while developing new skills and contributing to a high-performance team.

The role suits someone with practical experience, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude to learning in a defence-focused company based in the North East of England.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a practical environment such as manufacturing, engineering, production, warehouse or similar setting.
• Attention to detail with a methodical approach and pride in getting things right.
• Quality mindset with ability to spot defects and escalate when needed.
• Motivated to learn and develop a career in Quality.
• Organised and reliable with accurate record-keeping and task management.
• Team player with good communication across departments.
• Experience using vernier calipers or plug gauges is beneficial.
• Experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials such as machined parts, components, electrical assemblies and PCBs against quality standards.
• Carry out dimensional and visual inspections using hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Check materials against drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Identify defects or non-conformances and elevate as needed.
• Record inspection results in ERP/QMS system.
• Manage rejected items and supplier returns with proper identification and packaging.
• Maintain traceability of materials and inspection records.
• Support Quality team with factory acceptance testing and supplier documentation.
