Job summary

Asper Recruitment is seeking a skilled bench joiner to join our clients team in Baldock. The role involves producing high-quality joinery and staircases by interpreting drawings and using a range of machinery and hand tools.

You will measure, cut, shape, and fit wood and other materials to create cabinets, desks and shelves, and apply finishes to enhance appearance and durability. Collaboration with designers and project managers will ensure timely project completion and strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans and instructions to manufacture joinery and staircases.
• Experience constructing joinery and furniture pieces such as cabinets, desks and shelves.
• Proficient with wood working machinery and hand tools.
• Ability to apply finishes (stains/varnishes/paints) and protect surfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and plans to manufacture joinery and staircases.
• Measure, cut, shape and fit wood to construct cabinets, desks and shelves.
• Operate machinery and hand tools including saws, drills, planers and sanders.
• Apply finishes to enhance appearance and protect surfaces.
• Collaborate with designers and project managers to meet deadlines.
• Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy; make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain and clean equipment to ensure safe operation.
