Job summary

Involve Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Bench Hand / Machinist to join a busy production team in Redditch, UK.

The role involves producing and assembling precision components, bench fitting, and supporting fabrication to meet tight specifications. You will operate drills, saws, grinders and bench-mounted equipment, read engineering drawings, and work to quality standards in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Previous bench hand/machinist or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with hand tools and workshop machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Team player who can work to production schedules.
• Welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate workshop machinery including drills, saws, grinders, and bench-mounted equipment.
• Measure, mark out, cut, drill, tap, and prepare metal components.
• Bench fitting and assembly work to engineering drawings.
• Use hand tools and measuring equipment accurately and safely.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Perform quality inspections and ensure work meets required standards.
• Support fabrication and welding preparation activities where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
• Work efficiently to production schedules and deadlines.
