Job description

Are you looking for a role where you can earn while you learn? We are seeking Pre‑registration Pharmacy Technician level 3 Apprentices to join us. Pharmacy technicians are registered professionals working within the regulatory standards for pharmacy as set by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Our Pre‑registration Pharmacy Technician Apprentices undertake a 2‑year distance learning training programme with the University of East Anglia, with lots of support from our dedicated and experienced training team. You will attend virtual training to study for the coursework for your Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice and learn all aspects of the operational functions of the Pharmacy department so that you can accurately carry out these functions under the supervision and professional direction of a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician. You will complete the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice (Apprenticeship) with the University of East Anglia to develop the skills and knowledge in all areas of hospital pharmacy practice required to become a qualified, registered Pharmacy Technician. We are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic people who are interested in a healthcare career with varied rotations and a grounding in all aspects of pharmacy technician roles in hospital. We expect you to commit to the 2‑year training programme, including all practical and academic aspects, supported by your excellent organisational skills.

Responsibilities
  • Attend virtual training and study for the coursework of the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice.
  • Learn and perform all operational functions of the Pharmacy department under the supervision of a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician.
  • Support hospital pharmacy practice through accurate and safe medication dispensing, inventory management and patient counselling.
  • Work effectively in teams across various hospital pharmacy rotations.
Qualifications
  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent (grades A, B or C OR grade 4) including Biology or Human Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English (or a subject testing English). A dual award science or equivalent at grade A, B or C is accepted.
  • Work experience in hospital or community pharmacy.
  • Previous customer service experience and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and self‑organisational skills.
  • Methodical with attention to detail, following accepted methods of good practice laid down in SOPs.
  • Basic keyboard/computer skills.
  • Understanding of the roles of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in hospital and community settings.
