Job description

We are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic, organised, and motivated individuals to join our dynamic Pharmacy team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. We have training posts available at two of our general hospitals (YYF and Nevill Hall) and our critical care hospital (Grange University). These are busy hospitals that play a vital role in delivering our new model of health care. The role of the Pharmacy Technician is varied, interesting and continuously developing, which is why we are offering the opportunity to explore this innovative role in a rotational training programme. You will gain experience in a hospital setting dispensing and checking medications, managing medication on wards and providing advice to patients. There will also be an opportunity to explore areas such as clinical trials, aseptic production, procurement, outpatient clinics and community response team. Please note all applicants must hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A, including English, mathematics and at least one science subject. If you are selected for interview you will be expected to produce your exam certificates. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Training Contract Details

This post is a fixed‑term training contract of 24 months due to funding. The training post provides the opportunity to gain the required experience and qualification needed to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Salary: Initially Annex 21 Band 4 - 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months. The training programme is delivered by HEIW via a Welsh Government Apprenticeship.
