Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Pre-Press Assistant at Markham Vale to support the safe storage, handling and preparation of cutting formes and printing plates. You will ensure correct distribution to machines, perform quality checks, and help maintain accurate records of movements and repairs.

The role requires initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work across shifts in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all formes and stereos are distributed to the relevant machines in prior to production (as dictated to by the production program)
• Ensure all tooling is quality checked prior to production where possible, and report any issues found to the line manager
• To recheck the quality of all formes and printing plates when returning them to the designated location and report any issues found to the line manager
• To liase with the line manager and planning departments when internal/external repairs need to be carried out
• To take receipt and carry out quality checks on all incoming formes and stereos
• Ensure all formes and stereos are safely and accurately stored within the system to enable easy and efficient access, where possible
• To do minor repairs on cutting formes and minor amendments on printing plates where possible and when trained
• To keep a clean and tidy work area, which will be monitored by the pre-press co Ordinator and the senior technical supervisor
• It is expected that the Pre-press Assistant will use their own initiative to cover further improvement areas beyond this list and similarly will undertake tasks that are not in this list that are deemed to be a reasonable request.

The Role

Targets, Results, Achievements

• Introduce technical department process controls to minimise production defects and losses with the pre-press co Ordinator and Senior technical Supervisor.
• Scrapped Tooling is administered appropriately and disposed of efficiently
• The above will be made specific and objective in annual PDRs and will change as the business develops its focus needs.
• Introduce good robust cleaning schedules for all pre-press assistants

Location & Hours

We are hiring a pre press assistant working a continental shift pattern (Days & Nights) at our industry leading conversion plant on junction 29a of the M1. We are the Smurfit Westrock team at Markham Vale
