Main duties of the job

Conduct detailed pre-assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Provide patients and their families with clear information and support regarding upcoming procedures. Maintain high standards of clinical practice and patient safety. Act as a role model and mentor to junior staff. Job responsibilities
  • Deliver skilled nursing care to patients attending pre-assessment clinics.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, coordinating with the wider clinical team.
  • Interpret clinical information to identify risks related to surgery or anaesthesia.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to clinical guidelines.
  • Request investigations in line with NICE guidelines and evidence-based practice.
  • Promote health education and support patients in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (part 1 register)/Registered Operating Practitioner
  • Evidence of continued professional studies related to area of surgery
  • Teaching qualification such as practice assessor or mentorship
  • Degree in nursing or equivalent

  • Demonstrate interest and commitment to the professional development of others
  • Able to contribute to the development of students, nurses and self
  • Able to contribute to develop the workplace as a learning environment
