Job summary

Elysium Healthcare's Middlewood Clinic in Sussex seeks an experienced Practitioner Psychologist for a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You will conduct assessments, deliver individual and group interventions, and contribute to MDT work in a service for eating disorders.

Qualifications

• Must hold BPS-recognised psychology degree and HCPC registration.
• Chartered Psychologist status and approved supervisor status per BPS guidelines.
• Understanding of evidence-based psychological practice and clinical applications.
• Experience applying psychology in a clinical setting and with cognitive deficits.
• Experience in conducting research and project work.

Responsibilities

• Assess referrals and provide initial assessments for service users.
• Deliver high-quality direct (therapy) and indirect (consultative) interventions.
• Work therapeutically with complex presentations and assess using structured methods.
• Formulate plans for specialist psychological treatment and care.
• Be professionally accountable and uphold HCPC and company policies.

Are you an experienced Practitioner Psychologist looking to take on a 12 month fixed term contract? If so, join Middlewood Clinic in Sussex, a service which provides care and treatment for men and women who have an eating disorder including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and atypical Eating Disorders. This is an opportunity is to cover materity leave.

Reporting directly to the Consultant Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.

As a Practitioner Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user's caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.

As a Psychologist you will be:

• Participating in the assessment of referrals, and to provide initial assessment service users referred to the service.
• Undertaking high quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
• Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertake the assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi structured clinical methods.
• Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients' mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence based best practise.
• Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
• Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Company Policies and Procedures.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Have BPS recognised psychology degrees
• Be HCPC registered
• Have Chartered Psychologist status and appropriate post-graduate qualifications
• Be an approved supervisor within the guidelines of the BPS and relevant division
• Have understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
• Have experience of applying psychological knowledge in a clinical setting
• Be experienced working with clients with cognitive deficits
• Have previous experience of conducting research and project working

Middlewood Clinic provide care and treatment for men and women who have an eating disorder including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and atypical Eating Disorders. Our approach will be to restore a healthy body weight and address psychological problems during treatment.

The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Middlewood Clinic will be made up of the Registered Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nurses, Healthcare Workers, Psychologist, Dietician, Occupational Therapist and Social Worker.

The hospital has 12 beds and a variety of communal and recreational spaces including lounge areas, a light and airy dining room, activities room, visitors room, therapy rooms, therapy kitchen area and a lovely cottage style garden.
