Job Summary

Practice Nurse – 37.5 hours per week (up to 37.5 hours). Working pattern to be negotiated. Salary: £36,000‑£39,000 per annum (pro‑rata). Permanent contract. Notes – Interviews on Tuesday 25th November.

About Us

Kingswood Health Centre is a busy GP surgery in an urban setting providing care to a mixed demographic of working‑age individuals, older adults and families. The practice is owned by seven GP partners and a managing partner and offers multidisciplinary services, including GPs, pharmacists, physiotherapists, social prescribers and care coordinators. We are proud of our high quality care and highly supportive team led by Rachel, our Lead Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care to the practice population, including wound care, cervical sample taking, health promotion, lifestyle advice, vaccinations and immunisations, ear irrigation and travel advice.
  • Support our PCN's Leg Club once a week at Hanham Community Centre, coordinating with local VCSE services and community partners.
  • Assist in chronic disease management (diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, etc.).
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion and well‑being programmes.
  • Manage acute and chronic patient needs, including assessment and treatment of uncomplicated wounds.
  • Provide counselling and information on mental health, family planning and cervical cytology.
  • Participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for adults and children, including travel‑related immunisations.
  • Assist senior practitioners in minor‑surgery sessions.
Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (UK Nursing & Midwifery Council registration required).

Desirable

  • Diploma or further qualification in chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD).
Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with vulnerable patients.
  • Experience as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Wound care and management experience.
  • Phlebotomy, ECG and other observations experience.
  • Vaccination and immunisation experience.
  • Health promotion delivery to patients.

Desirable

  • Experience in a primary care setting (GP practice, district nursing).
  • Cervical sample taker qualification.
  • Chronic disease management experience.
  • Experience using EMIS Web patient record system.
  • Understanding of Quality and Outcomes Framework.
  • Travel medicine experience.
  • Family planning experience.
