Main duties of the job
This autonomous role requires three to five years working experience in Primary Care with a broad knowledge of chronic disease management, (with an area of expertise within one area), knowledge of CQC, QOF and staff management.

About us
The Red and Green Practice is a large practice providing Primary Care to 23,000 patients in the local area. Our team comprises 14 GPs, 10 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants, 2 Phlebotomist's plus admin and reception team support. We are a GP training practice so also have GP Registrars and Medical Students on secondment.
Job responsibilities
Specific elements of the role are outlined below but this list is not exhaustive.
- Waterside Health Centre and Blackfield Health Centre management activities for the Practice Nursing team, including:
- Mentoring and coaching a team of Practice Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, Phlebotomists and Admin Support Staff
- Recruitment, induction and training of team members
- Ensuring clinical coverage and suitable skill set for all sessions
- Management of staff appraisal system and assisting Registered Nurses with NMC revalidation requirements
- Member of Senior Management Team
- Work strategically with GPs and SMT to develop the nursing service at Red and Green Practice
- Working collaboratively with staff in the three member practices of the Primary Care Network to facilitate a joined-up approach to providing nursing care within the PCN
- Management of Learning Events and delivery of resultant action plans
- Delivery of annual QOF targets
- Management of annual flu vaccine procurement and delivery
- Management of Covid Vaccine Programme specifically organisation of the clinic setting, vaccine management and assisting with recruitment and training of volunteer workforce

Qualifications
- Three to Five years working experience in primary care
- Experience managing a team
- Qualifications & Registration
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to primary care or leadership.
- Experience
- Significant post-registration experience in a primary care or community setting.
- Proven experience in leading or managing a nursing team or multidisciplinary staff.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
- Experience in managing workloads, rotas, and resource allocation.
- Experience in supporting or conducting staff appraisals, supervision, and development plans.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of primary care services, chronic disease management, and QOF.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and CQC standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise, delegate, and manage competing demands effectively.
- Competence in using clinical systems (EMIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
