A patient-centered GP Practice in Witney is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join their friendly team. The role involves providing holistic care, managing chronic diseases, and performing various nursing duties including immunisations and chronic disease management. Ideal candidates should be NMC registered and may have diplomas in Respiratory care or Chronic Disease Management. This 37.5 hours per week position is open to part-time applications, facilitating team expansion.

Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our practice, skills in Respiratory, COPD and Asthma would be preferable but NOT essential.

Cogges Surgery is a friendly and patient centred GP Practice in Witney. This is an exciting opportunity to join our excellent Nursing Team, we are looking to recruit to 37.5 hours per week and are happy to consider applications from those looking to work on a part time basis as we could employ more than one person to the team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our supportive, enthusiastic and friendly team.

The Practice nurse will work as an integral part of the nursing team, using their skills and knowledge to offer holistic care to our registered patients.

General practice experience desirable, with a range of Practice nursing duties within a Primary Care setting that will include

  • Cervical Cytology
  • Immunisations including Childhood, Travel Vaccinations and administering injections under PGD/PSD requirements
  • Family planning
  • Chronic Disease Management specifically respiratory but also Diabetes, COPD Asthma
  • Wound care, Dressings, Compression Bandaging and Suture Removal
  • Full understanding and compliance with all Infection Control principles
  • Managing day to day stock control
  • Provide Health Education to patients and their families
  • Administer medications and treatments according to Clinicians orders
  • Assist Clinicians with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Provide patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols
  • Any other duties delegated to the post
About us

Our dedicated and experienced team comprises seven GPs, three of whom are Partners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, a Clinical Pharmacist, and Paramedics; all supported by our invaluable reception and administration team. We support the training and development of our whole team, and we are a GP training practice.

Our patient feedback is excellent, and we are rated Good by CQC in all domains.

Job responsibilities

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, health promotion, chronic disease management, as well as actively supporting the practice management team in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure.

We are looking for a practice nurse with experience in chronic disease management preferably with an accredited Respiratory qualification, including Asthma and COPD but this is not essential.

The post holder will have access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.
