Job summary

The Crown Medical Centre is seeking an experienced practice nurse to provide a wide range of nursing services within a primary care setting in Taunton. You will deliver treatment room care, wound management and immunisations, and play an active role in chronic disease support and patient pathways.

You will perform venepuncture, ECGs and routine observations, while maintaining EMIS records and high standards of infection control. Training and development are encouraged to broaden competencies.

• Nurses will work under practice protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
• Clinical skills across primary care settings are essential.

Responsibilities

• Providing treatment room nursing services in line with practice protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
• Undertaking wound care, dressings and leg ulcer management.
• Administering vaccinations and immunisations, including childhood and adult programmes.
• Carrying out venepuncture and blood sampling.
• Administering injections, including B12, contraceptives and travel vaccines, where appropriately trained.
• Undertaking clinical observations, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis and ECGs.
• Supporting the management of long-term conditions, including diabetes, asthma and COPD, where appropriately trained.
• Undertaking cervical screening where appropriately qualified.
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records using EMIS Web.
• Ensuring infection prevention and control standards are maintained.
• Recognising clinical concerns and escalating appropriately.
• Working collaboratively with practice colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Participating in relevant training, professional development and quality improvement activities.
