The North Leeds Medical Practice is seeking a practice nurse to join a busy two-site team committed to excellent patient care. The role values a motivated clinician who can adapt to change and contribute to the care and wellbeing of patients across both Harehills and Moortown sites.
We have a large team of nurses and HCAs, and we support medical students, GP registrars and nursing trainees. Salary is negotiable and depends on qualifications and experience.
We are pleased to offer a practice nurse role preferably with experience but not essential to join our dynamic team in a busy 2 site practice who is committed to excellent patient care. We are looking for highly motivated individual who can positively contribute to the care and wellbeing of patients, adapting to change and support a progressive team. We have a large team of 4 practice nurses and 3 HCA's, 13 GPs 1 ANP. We also support nursing and medical students and GP registrars. We are a large 19,000+ patient surgery split across 2 sites.
Organise and coordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice including management of patients wiyh long term conditions, vaccination and immunisations, cervical screening, general treatment room duties and any other duties as required by the practice within your professional competencies. Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary. In participation with the lead nurse, ensure the maintenance of equipment stock levels relating to patient care. Following appropriate training, undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc, and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the clinicians. Participate in the administrative professional responsibilities of the practice team. Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient healthcare and registration with the practice. Co operate and participate as required in any research projects within the practice.

Role summary: Provide care to the practice patients, to include treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education.

Annual leave: 27 days plus 8 days Bank Holiday. After 5 years service this entitlement increases to 29 days plus 8 days Bank holiday.

Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the induction of all members of practice staff with special responsibility for nursing staff.
Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.
Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
