Job summary

A healthcare practice in Huddersfield is seeking a Practice Nurse to provide essential clinical services including immunizations, wound management, and diabetes care. Candidates should have a Registered General Nurse qualification and experience in a GP environment is desirable. Training will be provided in all aspects of this role. The position is approximately 31 hours per week, offering competitive salary based on experience.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a PracticeNurse to join our hard working, caring and friendly practice.Dutiesmay include: childhood immunisations, long term condition management, smokingcessation, travel vaccinations, wound management and general nursing duties.

Salary: Depending on experience.

Approx. 31 hours / week.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will be up to date and competent in delivering a wide range of essential clinical services.

An interest or experience in diabetes care & cytology is desirable.

About us

Training practice with 5 GP Partners, 3 part-time practice nurses, 1 Advanced clinical practitioner (trainee), 1 HCA as well as a full team of administrative staff.

Ideally candidates should be familiar/ or have knowledge ofthe Systm-one computer system. Fulltraining, mentoring and support will be given for all aspects of this post.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
  • Removal of sutures
  • Asthma/PeakFlow readings/Spirometry
  • Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
  • Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
  • Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
  • Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.
  • Following an agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.

Other tasks will include

  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
  • Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
  • Ordering of stock
  • Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
  • Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
  • At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
  • Aduty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • You will need to be a Registered General Nurse, have evidence of continued professional development.
  • GP practice nurse experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system an advantage.
  • An interest or experience in diabetes care & cytology is desirable.
