A well-established healthcare practice in High Wycombe is looking for an enthusiastic RGN/RN trained nurse. The position involves providing exceptional nursing care, participating in health promotion, and supporting a close-knit team. Ideal candidates will have strong general practice nursing skills, relevant experience, and the desire to work in a busy environment for 2-3 days per week.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic RGN/ RN trained nurse to join our patient focused, caring practice. We have a patient list of just under 11,000.
Strong nursing skills in General Practice Nursing and personal development is encouraged. The ability to work in a busy team is essential.
Ideally we are looking to recruit a nurse for 2-3 days.
Main areas of clinical responsibility, workingwith the partners to agreed protocols, and in which you have received theappropriate training are:
Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cervical CytologyScreening, Family Planning, Travel Vaccinations, Flu Vaccinations, Dressings, ECGs. Removal of sutures, treatment of minor injuries, taking ofswabs, Childhood Immunisations and any other clinicalconditions identified by the Partners.
Be pro-active in health promotion/education and to provide support to patients in changing lifestyle habits e.g.stop smoking, diet and exercise.
Be active in Infection Control policy
Located on West Wycombe Rd, we are a busy, patient focused, caring practice.
On the clinical side of our team we have 3 partners, 4 salaried doctors, a GP Assistant, a HCA, Social prescriber and a phlebotomist. On the admin side providing support we have our reception team, clinical coders, registrations clerk, summariser, prescriptions clerk, office assistant, operations manager and practice manager.
We have a patient list of just under 11,000.
We use EMIS web and DOCMAN10.
MAIN PURPOSE OF POST
To be an active member of thePrimary Health Care Team, working with the partners and the Practice team topromote treatment, preventative care and patient education.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL
To assess, plan and provide and evaluate nursingcare to patients. To refer patients to other health professionals asappropriate, according to Practice protocols and national guidelines.
Main areas of clinical responsibility, workingwith the partners to agreed protocols, and in which you have received theappropriate training are:
Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cervical CytologyScreening, Family Planning, Travel Vaccinations, Flu Vaccinations, Dressings,Ear Syringing, ECGs. Removal of sutures, treatment of minor injuries, taking ofswabs, Childhood Immunisations, and any other clinicalconditions identified by the Partners.
To be pro-active in health promotion andeducation and to provide support to patients in changing lifestyle habits e.g.stop smoking, diet and exercise.
Undertake the collection of pathologicalspecimens including swabs, smears, urine samples, and perform any investigatoryprocedures requested by the Doctors.
To adhere to the operational guidelines andprotocols of the Practice to ensure an effective and efficient service.
Undertake to work within local and practicepolicies on child protection, and protecting vulnerable adults
Undertake work with Infection Control
To effectively communicate, liaise and negotiateholistic patient care.
To assist other health care professionals withmedical procedures.
To support and mentor current and trainingof newHealth care assistants
To assist in the maintenance and standards ofPractice equipment.
Maintain confidentiality
Undertake to provide first aid to staff membersas well as patients if appropriate to do so.
Recognise and work within own competence andprofessional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing & MidwiferyCouncil
ADMINISTRATIVE
Work with the current Practice Nurses to ensurethe maintenance of equipment and stock levels in the treatment room relating topatient care.
Produce accurate, contemporaneous and completerecords of patient consultations, consistent with legislation, policies andprocedures, in the patients medical records.
Work in an effective and responsible way,prioritise workload and ensure effective time management strategies areapplied.
Ensure accurate completion of all necessarydocumentation associated with patient care and registration with the Practice.
Participate in the collection and maintenance ofstatistical information required for regular reports and audits, both manuallyand computerised.
Participate in the formulation and updating ofPractice protocols and procedures.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.
Ensure accurate recording of all consultationsand treatments.
Maintain professional updating and act ontraining needs to ensure best practice.
Participate in annual appraisals.
Co-operate and participate in any researchprojects or audits within the Practice.
Attend and participate in all Practice meetings.
Attend and participate in all Clinical meetings.
Work effectively within multi-disciplinary team.
EDUCATIONAL
The Practice is committed to continuing nurseeducation, and you will be expected to attend regular appropriate trainingcourses.
To participate in the formulation of nursingprotocols as required.
To participate in the development of effectiveliaison with other health care professionals.
Attend and take an active part in Clinical/Educational meetings any other Practice meetings deemed appropriate by thePractice.

HEALTH AND SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL
The Practice attaches greatimportance to the health and safety of its employees. You are expected to make yourself aware of,and comply with, the Practices health and safety policies, copies of which areretained by the Practice Manager.
Apply infection control measuresto minimise risk according to national, local and Practice guidelines.
