Job description
Practice Nurse - North Glen Medical Practice

This role is initially for a period of 12 months offering 30 hours per week over 4 days.

Due to a forthcoming retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team.

The practice is situated in the North of Glenrothes and is within easy commute from all areas of Fife, Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.

North Glen is a 3 GP partner / 3 salaried GP practice serving a diverse patient population of 8,900 across Glenrothes using EMIS and Docman as our clinical systems. We are a friendly, patient centred and welcoming team who believe in supporting each other and working collaboratively in the best interests of our patients and team. We encourage our staff to let their skills shine and will actively support our successful applicant with continued professional development.

Our nursing team consists of our Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Nursing Manager, 2 x Nurse Practitioners who are prescribers, 2 x Practice Nurses, 1 x Treatment room nurse and 1 x Healthcare Assistant. We are also supported under the GMS Contract, by the Community Treatment and Care team (CTAC) who provide phlebotomy as well as a Treatment Room Nurse.

We are also proud to be supportive of our next generation of Doctors and are a ScotGEM training practice.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse with a strong clinical background who is enthusiastic and committed to delivering high quality patient centred care.

Applicants must hold a registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and previous experience within a primary care setting is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide core nursing skills such as wound care, phlebotomy, injections, ECG taking and cervical screening.
  • Deliver lifestyle advice and health promotion.
Desirable Skills For This Role Are
  • Chronic Disease Management such as diabetes, respiratory and hypertension. We will consider applications from nurses who wish to be developed further in their Chronic Disease Management.
