About the Practice

A well‑established and highly respected GP training practice in Milton Keynes is seeking an outstanding Practice Nurse to join its dedicated and forward‑thinking clinical team. The practice has a strong reputation for excellence in patient care, education, and staff development, and works closely with GP registrars, medical students, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

As a training practice, the surgery offers a dynamic, supportive, and educational environment where learning is actively encouraged, clinical standards are high, and professional development is prioritised. The Role

The Practice Nurse will play a vital role in the delivery of high‑quality primary care services and will work closely with GPs, trainee doctors, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff. The role offers a broad and rewarding clinical scope with the opportunity to develop specialist interests and expand skills within primary care.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of chronic diseases including asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, and coronary heart disease
  • Running nurse‑led clinics and reviews in line with QOF and clinical guidelines
  • Cervical cytology, women’s health, and family planning services
  • Childhood and adult immunisations and vaccination programmes
  • Wound care, leg ulcer management, and minor injury care
  • NHS Health Checks and health promotion clinics
  • Supporting infection prevention and control standards
  • Contributing to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and governance
  • Supporting and mentoring learners within the training practice environment, where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date clinical records using GP clinical systems
  • Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and compassionate nurse who is committed to high clinical standards and patient‑centred care. The practice is looking for someone who enjoys working within a team, adapts well to change, and values continuous learning.

Essential and desirable criteria include:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
  • Previous experience working in primary care as a Practice Nurse, or strong transferable experience
  • Competence in chronic disease management and immunisations
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider team
  • A professional, flexible, and proactive approach to workload
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development
  • Experience working in a GP training practice (desirable but not essential)
