Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Foston Hall, a closed‑category women’s Prison and Young Offenders Institution located in the village of Foston in Derbyshire, England.

Hours
37.5 hours a week on a rota basis, Monday to Friday 8am‑4pm.

Salary
Full‑time position; annual salary up to £49,175 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

Requirements for Applicants
Legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at each stage of the patient journey, supporting patients as they arrive into prison (Early Days in Custody Team), delivering the care they need, promoting good health and supporting resettlement.
  • Apply expert clinical skills and demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide‑ranging and complex patient problems. Provide clinical leadership for the Primary Care team and act as a critical leader within the scheduled care team.
  • Deliver face‑to‑face care and provide safe, effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment.
  • Be accountable for own practice, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention.
