Job Title: Permanent Practice Nurse

Location: GP Surgery, Huddersfield

Contract Type: Full-time (minimum 25 hours per week)

Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our GP Surgery in Huddersfield on a full-time, permanent basis. As part of our team, you will play an essential role in providing high-quality care to our patients, including general treatment room duties and chronic disease management. The role is suitable for a registered nurse with experience or those who are looking to further develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Full training will be provided on our systems and specific duties, ensuring you have the support needed to succeed in the role. The practice offers a welcoming and professional environment where staff development and patient care are our top priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide treatment room services, including wound care, immunisations, blood pressure monitoring, and other general nursing tasks.
  • Support chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD) under the supervision of the GPs.
  • Assist with health screening and preventative care (e.g., health checks, smoking cessation, weight management).
  • Conduct cervical smear tests and other routine screenings.
  • Provide advice to patients on lifestyle changes and general health promotion.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of practice protocols and clinical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance professional skills.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin.
  • Previous experience in a GP surgery or similar healthcare setting is desirable, but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Passionate about patient care and the healthcare service.
  • Must be able to start immediately.
