Locum Ready is seeking a NMC‑registered Practice Nurse to join a GP practice in Consett for regular or ad‑hoc sessions. This role suits a nurse with solid assessment skills who can deliver chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations and routine clinic activity within a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high‑quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventive health work and treatment room activity, with supportive nursing leadership and clear daily clinic

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room work.
• Strong patient communication and clinical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for conditions like asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Deliver adult and children immunisations if trained.
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained if applicable).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children's immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
