Job summary

Locum Ready, Bridgwater-based GP practice partner, is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in a structured primary care setting.

You will conduct chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations if trained, and NHS Health Checks, supporting the nursing team through efficient clinic sessions.

A register with NMC, DBS, and familiarity with EMIS/SystmOne/ Vision are valued; regular or ad-hoc sessions, long-term bookings available.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current NMC status and experience in primary care.
• Immunisation training and cytology training desired.
• Confidence in chronic disease management and treatment room duties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension.
• Carry out wound care and treatment room duties.
• Administer adult and, if trained, children’s immunisations.
• Perform smear tests (cytology-trained).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Record results and manage recalls and follow-ups.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.

Locum Ready is looking for a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Bridgwater. This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements
