Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality patient care within a GP surgery setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with GPs, healthcare assistants and other medical staff to provide holistic patient care
  • Conduct health assessments and screen patients for common conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma
  • Assist in the management of long‑term conditions (asthma, diabetes, hypertension, COPD)
  • Monitor and track patient progress, ensuring regular reviews are scheduled
  • Offer advice on medication management and ensure patients are following treatment plans
  • Perform routine clinical procedures such as blood pressure measurements, ECGs, ear syringing, spirometry and blood sampling
  • Carry out procedures including pessary fitting and management, cytology, wound and ulcer care, doppler, removal of sutures, urinalysis and routine immunisations
  • Request pathology tests (e.g. urine culture, swabs) and follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
  • Maintain and promote infection control and prevention standards within the practice
  • Foster a supportive and welcoming environment for patients, addressing any concerns they may have about their care
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records in accordance with practice policies and confidentiality requirements
  • Assist with general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
  • Participate in any practice meetings and other administrative duties as required, including occasional home visits
Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Nurse with NMC registration
  • Experience in a GP setting preferred

Desirable

  • Experience in chronic disease management
  • Experience with clinical procedures listed above
