Job summary

A healthcare provider in Scotland is seeking a Practice Education Lead to support the education needs of the AHP workforce. This role requires a HCPC registered AHP with substantial postgraduate experience in practice-based learning. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering workshops, promoting innovative learning opportunities, and liaising with multiple stakeholders. This is a permanent, part-time contract offering a competitive salary. Closing date for applications is 28th December 2025.

Practice Education Lead

Band 7 £50,861 - £59,159 (pro rata)

plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,406 (pro rata)

Permanent Contract

14.8 hrs per week

An opportunity has arisen to take a lead role in supporting the practice education needs of the AHP workforce across NHS Western Isles. We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm and passion for practice education who is able to take a flexible and proactive approach. You will be an HCPC registered AHP with experience in practice-based learning and a proven record of influencing, improving and innovation.

The postholder will be based in the Western Isles and provide support and facilitation for the development of the workplace as a sustainable quality learning environment for registered AHPs, pre-registration students, support workers and people returning to practice across the Western Isles. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of national practice education programmes of work and the following workstreams: AHP careers; practice-based learning; supporting staff health and well-being; workforce development.

Key tasks may include but will not be limited to:
  • Carrying out scoping to identify specific barriers/challenges to practice education
  • Delivering workshops and events as required
  • Promoting and implementing a range of different models of practice-based learning to modernise, diversify and sustain opportunities for learning
  • Liaising with a range of partners from health, social care, education, independent and third sectors, including Higher Education Institutions, Scottish Government and strategic leads in Health Boards and care providers
  • Developing and maintaining effective links with key stakeholders in order to support wider NES activity
What you will bring:
  • Passion for developing quality student learning experiences
  • Ability to network, push boundaries and influence strategically in order to introduce innovative practice-based learning opportunities
  • Nationally recognised education qualification or equivalent experience
  • Substantial postgraduate experience and will have held enhanced responsibility in an educational or health or social care post
  • Good written, verbal, IT skills and presentation skills
