Role: Practice Director

Location: Greenside & Hawick Veterinary Group - Melrose, Jedburgh, and Hawick

Salary: Up to £55,000/per year (Dependent on experience)

Working hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Greenside & Hawick, our veterinary practices in the heart of the Scottish borders, are the cornerstone of both small animal and farm animal care. Here we deliver a broad, high-quality service across the Borders, rooted in community care, clinical innovation, and compassionate service.

We are now looking for a dynamic people and business leader to develop our local strategy, elevate communication and leadership across the group and continue to enhance every aspect of the experience for our clients, pets and associates.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational and financial performance of your practice, holding full P&L accountability.
  • Drive change and performance through a people and customer centric lens.
  • Drive excellence in patient and client care, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and wellbeing.
  • Provide strategic leadership, guiding your Senior Leadership Team (Clinical Directors, Group/Clinical Nursing Managers & Practice Managers).
  • Oversee and hold accountability for all key business areas including leadership, HR, operations, health & safety, client care, and marketing.
  • Collaborate with central partners (Finance, HR, Marketing, Medical, Operations) to deliver practice strategy and performance.
  • Inspire, coach, and develop teams to achieve their full potential.
About You
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing and empowering teams.
  • Demonstrable experience in operation or general management, ideally across multiple sites.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into clear, actionable plans.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budget management and KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to engage with associates at all levels.
  • A commitment to clinical quality and client experience.
Desirable
  • Experience in Veterinary/Healthcare setting.
  • Formal management or leadership qualification.
  • Understanding of RCVS accreditation and other governance and compliance relevant to the sector.
