Job description
Overview

The Acute Medical Unit is a 51 bedded acute medical unit with high levels of acuity. Same Day Emergency Care see approximately 50-60 patients a day and operates 7 days a week. The Acute Assessment Unit currently has 7 trollies and treats patients from direct referral to admission or discharge home. There are 130 staff across all areas. Due to the acuity and high patient admission and discharge rate, training and support for new staff is essential.

Role

The Practice Development Nurse is pivotal in AMU and SDEC for safe patients care and a strong support network for the staff and students working within the environment. We are looking for a calm, supportive person with excellent clinical skills for this role. As a result, we welcome many newly qualified staff and support them through their supernumerary and induction period. The PDN liaises with the Unit Managers for all three areas to ensure a good, robust training plan for all staff.
