We’re a friendly, innovative GP partnership in the heart of Islington, caring for nearly 14,000 patients and working closely with our Primary Care Network and community health partners. Our current Practice Manager is moving on, and we’re now looking for a confident, capable, and compassionate Practice Business Manager to help lead our next phase of growth.

This is a senior leadership role at the core of our organisation, one that balances strategic oversight with day‑to‑day operational excellence. You’ll work closely with the GP Partners and our multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient‑centred care, while ensuring the business runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Provide inspiring leadership to our practice team, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing culture.
  • Oversee HR and people management including recruitment, staff development, wellbeing, and performance management.
  • Take responsibility for financial management: budgets, payroll, income streams (QOF, IIF, LES/DES, PCN), and business planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with CQC, GDPR, DSPT, Health & Safety, and safeguarding standards.
  • Drive digital transformation, maximising tools such as Anima AI and Ardens Manager to streamline processes and improve outcomes.
  • Support strategic development, including estate planning and service expansion to meet future population needs.
  • Build strong relationships across our PCN, ICB, and local health networks, representing the practice at key forums.
  • Engage with our patient community through the PPG, digital platforms, and meaningful communication.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to maintain an efficient, compassionate, and sustainable practice environment.

Essential Qualification and Experience
  • Proven leadership and management experience, ideally within healthcare or a similar complex environment.
  • Strong HR and people management skills.
  • Sound financial and business management expertise.
  • Experience in governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong IT and digital literacy, including confidence with data analysis and practice systems.
Desirable Qualification and Experience
  • Previous experience within primary care or NHS management.
  • Estates or project management experience.
  • A formal qualification in management, business, or healthcare leadership.
  • Qualified Practice Manager.
  • Qualified in Leadership and Management.
Terms and Conditions
  • Hours: Full‑time (37.5 hours per week), with flexibility for a 4‑day week or alternative arrangements.
  • Working: On‑site leadership presence required; scope for some remote working.
  • Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 a year (Depending on Experience).
  • Contract: Permanent.
