  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members is advantageous.

Practice Assistant for a top law firm in Milton Keynes. This permanent, hybrid role offers the chance to provide high-quality, proactive support to partners and fee-earners, with real opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid – office/home mix)
Hours: Full time
Reports to: Partner

The Role:

As a Practice Assistant, you will deliver exceptional executive support, ensuring smooth operational workflow and outstanding client service. You will support partners and fee-earners across diary and travel management, document preparation, client communications, and business development activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complex diary and travel management; arranging client entertainment and internal/external events.
  • Preparing meeting agendas, papers, and first drafts of correspondence.
  • Managing inboxes, post-matter completion tasks, and fee-earner capacity trackers.
  • Supporting client reporting, bids, tenders, and creating client presentation materials.
  • Handling financial tasks including billing arrangements, expenses, and WIP monitoring.
  • Performing document management tasks: preparing pitch documents, creating/amending Word, Excel, PowerPoint files, document comparisons, and proofreading.
  • Acting as a key contact for non-legal client queries and collaborating with other business services teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 18 months+ experience in a secretarial or administrative role, ideally supporting a Practice Group.
  • Proficient in MOS (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise, use initiative, and work confidently under pressure.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members is advantageous.
