Practice Accountant

My Cheltenham based client is looking for a Practice Accountant with audit experience. You may already be a Senior Accountant or an Audit Manager looking for a move.

It’s key for my client that you have audit experience. Most likely you will have been qualified for a few years.

The role would be for someone who can take a lead with certain clients and complete audits / accounts / tax returns for them. This would include 8 or so audits a year where you would be the main person leading onsite, usually with one or two other team members.

You’re not expected to know everything, and they will offer plenty of assistance with the clients, though it would be good to find someone who has a solid understanding of the basics. i.e if you also had a basic set of accounts to do as well, you could handle this with minimal involvement.

Due to the size, it tends to be hands‑on, so you would also be doing tax for your client bank and company owners. It’s okay if you have less experience on the tax side, as they are happy to assist with this. The audit experience is really what they are after. Mostly the work is based in the office, and they do usually allow staff to work at home 1 day a week.

Some audits are done remotely and some onsite, so you wouldn’t be expected to travel constantly. Their audits are mainly within 1 hour’s drive of Cheltenham. Only one requires an overnight stay.
