Job summary

Vallum in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to lead digital engineering initiatives that improve network performance and customer outcomes. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, analytics, software development, and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Power Systems Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in energy/utilities sector.
  • Strong knowledge of power system analysis and network operations.
  • Experience with Distributed Energy Resources (DER), flexible connections, and DERMS.
  • Experience leading digital product development or technical projects.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying software tools.
  • Experience with data analysis and statistics.
  • Experience using power system modelling software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Power Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong knowledge of power system analysis and network operations.
  • Experience with Distributed Energy Resources (DER), flexible connections, and DER Management Systems (DERMS).
  • Experience leading digital product development or technical projects.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying software tools.
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical techniques.
  • Practical experience using power system modelling software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar version control systems.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Power Systems Engineering or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution regulations, grid codes, and connection standards.
  • Understanding of electricity network planning, investment, and operational processes.
  • Knowledge of electricity markets, pricing, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Project management certification such as PRINCE2 or APM.
