Help shape a data-driven future at Compass Group UK & Ireland

Compass Group UK & Ireland is on a major data transformation journey — and we’re looking for a talented Power BI Developer to play a leading role in it.

As part of our Data & Analytics function, you’ll design and deliver enterprise-grade Power BI and Power Platform solutions that empower our teams with actionable insight, enable smarter decision-making, and drive operational excellence across the organisation.

This is a high-impact role where technical expertise meets real business value, offering the opportunity to influence strategy, mentor others, and help build a modern, self-service analytics culture within one of the UK’s largest and most complex organisations.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of Power BI solutions — from architecture and modelling through to deployment, governance, and adoption.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to translate complex requirements into intuitive dashboards, reports, and automated solutions using Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure data services.

This role combines hands‑on development with technical leadership and strategic influence.

Solution Design & Delivery
  • Design, build and optimise scalable Power BI datasets, dashboards and reports
  • Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable insights
  • Implement advanced features including RLS, incremental refresh, composite models and deployment pipelines
  • Integrate Power BI with Power Apps, Power Automate and other Power Platform tools
  • Contribute to Compass’ wider Data Democratisation and Digital Transformation programmes
Technical Leadership
  • Define best-practice data modelling approaches (star schema, aggregations, calculation groups)
  • Mentor junior developers and support citizen development
  • Manage Power BI Premium / Fabric capacity and performance
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of new Power Platform capabilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to define KPIs and analytics requirements
  • Lead workshops, dashboard design sessions and user training
  • Establish and maintain Power BI governance, security and compliance standards
  • Communicate value and ROI of analytics solutions to leadership
Innovation & Enablement
  • Support the creation of a Power Platform Centre of Excellence
  • Develop documentation, templates and training materials
  • Promote self-service analytics and data literacy across the business
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
  • Proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modelling
  • Hands‑on experience across the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working in Agile, cross‑functional teams
Desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • SQL, Python or R for advanced analytics
  • CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g. Git)
  • Microsoft certifications (PL-300, PL-400, DP-600)
Why Join Compass?
  • Work on large‑scale, high‑impact data solutions
  • Influence how data is used across a FTSE 100 organisation
  • Be part of a forward‑thinking Digital & Technology team
  • Access excellent career development and learning opportunities
  • Enjoy flexible hybrid working and a competitive benefits package
