Job description

Fancy being the person who actually gets to fix a business's reporting, rather than just patching round the same Excel workarounds everyone's used to? That's what this one's about.

I'm recruiting on behalf of an established, well-regarded business based in Ipswich that's going through a genuine step change in how it uses data. They're moving away from legacy, manual and Excel-based reporting towards scalable, trusted Power BI solutions, and they need someone to help build that capability from the ground up, working closely with stakeholders across the business rather than just delivering reports on request.

The role

This is a permanent, full-time position (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) based on-site in Ipswich, with hybrid working available once you're through probation, a minimum of three days in the office and up to two from home. You'll report into the Digital Development Manager.

The core of the job is development: building dashboards and reports, writing DAX, shaping data models, working with Power Query and SQL across multiple source systems. Alongside that you'll help manage the Power BI environment itself, datasets, security and governance, and support the existing Qlik Sense reporting while the business transitions across to Power BI and the wider Microsoft data platform. There's a strong stakeholder element to this one. You'll need to understand real business reporting problems and translate them into BI solutions that people actually trust and use, and you should be comfortable pushing back on inefficient processes rather than just automating them as they are.

What you'll bring

• Direct, hands-on experience building Power BI reports and dashboards
• Working knowledge of databases, SQL Server, DAX and Power Query
• Experience designing and maintaining data models for reporting and analytics
• A solid grasp of data quality, governance and best practice
• Strong communication skills, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels across different departments, with an analytical, problem-solving mindset
• Experience with any of Dataverse, Salesforce, Qlik Sense, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI security and deployment, or Azure would be a genuine advantage, though not essential.
