Job summary

La Fosse is seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant/Developer to join a government-focused programme in London. You will design and develop Power BI solutions within a secure environment, translating stakeholder requirements into scalable reporting solutions.

The role blends consultancy with hands-on development, working with data engineers, architects and programme teams to deliver accurate, performant reporting, dashboards and data validation.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and data transformation using Power Query/M.

Power BI Consultant / Developer

Contract | Inside IR35 | SC or DV Clearance Essential

La Fosse is supporting our Central Government clienton a major technology transformation programme and we are looking for an experienced Power BI Consultant / Developer to join the team.

The programme is modernising legacy technology and data capabilities, and we are looking for someone who can turn complex operational and programme data into clear, reliable and useful reporting and insight.

The role

You will work closely with data, engineering, architecture and programme teams to design and develop Power BI solutions within a complex, secure environment.

We need someone who is comfortable operating as both a consultant and hands-on developer – able to understand stakeholder requirements, challenge where necessary and then build the solution.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports
• Working with stakeholders to understand reporting, MI and analytical requirements
• Building robust semantic/data models for reporting
• Developing complex DAX measures and calculations
• Using Power Query / M for data transformation
• Working extensively with SQL and multiple underlying data sources
• Creating intuitive dashboards for technical, operational and senior stakeholders
• Improving existing reporting processes and replacing manual reporting where appropriate
• Ensuring reporting is accurate, performant and appropriately governed
• Supporting data validation, reconciliation and quality activities
• Working alongside Data Engineers, Data Architects and migration specialists
• Producing clear documentation and supporting knowledge transfer

Experience we’re looking for

Strong experience across:

• Microsoft Power BI

• Connecting Power BI to multiple data sources
• Building reporting solutions from complex datasets
• Translating stakeholder requirements into technical solutions
• Data quality and validation
• Working within Agile / multidisciplinary technology teams

Experience of cloud data environments, particularly AWS, would be advantageous.

We are particularly interested in consultants who have previously worked within Government, law enforcement, policing, defence, national security or other highly regulated environments.

Clearance

Current SC or DV clearance is essential.

Due to the nature and timescales of the programme, applicants must already hold active UK security clearance.
