Job summary

Contract Personnel are recruiting for Temporary Potato Graders to work on an active farm in the NR11 area. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided, and you will join a busy harvesting team outdoors.

You will inspect and grade potatoes during harvest, operate machinery attached to a tractor, and ensure only quality potatoes are stored or distributed. Temporary/seasonal work with a 07:00–17:30 schedule.

• Able to work in varying weather conditions.
• Willing to work around agricultural machinery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and grade potatoes during harvesting to ensure only those meeting company standards are stored or distributed.
• Operate within the potato harvesting machine attached to a tractor in the fields.
• Place graded potatoes into containers for storage or distribution.
• Monitor quality throughout harvesting and remove potatoes with blemishes or defects.
• Work as part of a team to maintain an efficient harvesting and grading process.
• Follow all site health and safety procedures and keep the work area clean and organised.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the farm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking for seasonal or temporary agricultural work. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. However, candidates should be comfortable working in a busy farm environment and be prepared to work outdoors and around agricultural machinery.

The Role

As a Potato Grader, you will be responsible for inspecting and grading potatoes during the harvesting process, ensuring that only potatoes meeting the required company standards are selected for storage and distribution.

You will work within the potato harvesting machinery while it is attached to a tractor and operating in the fields. The role will involve carefully inspecting potatoes as they are harvested, removing any potatoes with visible blemishes, damage or other defects.

You will then ensure potatoes that meet the required quality standards are placed into the appropriate containers, ready for storage or distribution.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Working on an active farm during the potato harvesting season.
• Working within the potato harvesting machine while it is attached to a tractor.
• Inspecting potatoes as they are harvested from the fields.
• Grading potatoes according to company quality standards.
• Identifying and removing potatoes with visible blemishes, damage, rot or other defects.
• Monitoring the quality of potatoes throughout the harvesting process.
• Ensuring potatoes that meet the required standard are retained for storage and distribution.
• Placing graded potatoes into the appropriate containers.
• Working as part of a team to maintain an efficient harvesting and grading process.
• Remaining alert and aware when working around moving agricultural machinery.
• Following all site, health and safety procedures and instructions.
• Maintaining a clean and organised working area where required.
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required by the farm.

£13.25 per hour

07:00 – 17:30

Temporary/seasonal position, with the duration dependent on the harvesting requirements.
