Job summary

The SU Bath is seeking two postgraduate community organisers to work with students and elected Officers to understand issues affecting postgraduates, amplify their voices, and help drive action on campus.

Two roles exist: one for Postgraduate Taught students and one for Doctoral students. No prior community organising experience is required; relevant leadership or volunteering roles are valued. Roles are campus-based with some flexibility and home tasks by agreement.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate status preferred or current student at the University of Bath.
• No prior community organising experience required.
• Ability to engage with diverse postgraduate communities.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with postgraduate students to understand experiences and concerns.
• Support communications that are relevant, engaging and accessible to postgraduates.
• Connect postgraduate student leaders and groups to strengthen communities.
• Collaborate with SU Officers, student leaders, and University staff to address issues.
• Organise campaigns and activities to improve postgraduate experiences.
• Collect feedback and evidence to inform campaigns and service improvements.
• Review existing initiatives and identify opportunities for growth.

Details

We are looking for two postgraduate community organisers to work alongside students and elected Officers to understand the issues affecting postgraduates, bring people together, and support them to take action.

There are two roles available: one focusing on Postgraduate Taught students and one focusing on Doctoral students.

You don't need to have worked in community organising before. Student leadership, volunteering, campaigning, society involvement, part-time work and other experiences can all give you relevant skills for this role.

The primarily purpose of this role is to amplify postgraduate voices and improve their student experience. This could include:

• Building relationships with postgraduate students to better understand their experiences, priorities and concerns.
• Developing and improving how the SU communicates with postgraduate students, ensuring communications are relevant, engaging and accessible.
• Connecting postgraduate student leaders, including representatives, peer mentors, societies and other student-led groups, helping them work together to strengthen postgraduate communities.
• Working with SU Officers, student leaders, University staff and other stakeholders to identify key issues affecting postgraduate students and support action to address them.
• Bringing students together around shared interests, experiences and concerns, helping them develop campaigns, projects and activities that improve the postgraduate experience.
• Gathering feedback, insights and evidence to inform campaigns, priorities and service improvements.
• Reviewing existing postgraduate initiatives and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.

Location:This role will mostly be based in 1 East (Claverton Down campus) or other locations on campus. There may be the option to work from home for specific tasks (by prior agreement from line manager). You must be a registered student at the University of Bath (or will be) for the academic year 2026/27 to apply for this role.
