Job summary

The Edinburgh Mostly Quantum Lab at Heriot-Watt University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Quantum Light Source Development. The role is a fixed-term, full-time appointment for 12 months at Grade 7 Spine Point 28 (£37,694) per annum, with 33 days of leave and additional closed days.

The successful candidate will lead development of quantum light sources for field tests within IQN.

Qualifications

• PhD required; must have submitted thesis before start.
• Strong experimental background in experimental quantum photonics or quantum communications.
• Track record of high-quality publications in the field.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Design and develop quantum light sources.
• Carry out quantum communication field tests over deployed fibre links.
• Oversee postgraduate and undergraduate project students in the lab and analyze data.
• Attend group and project meetings and present progress to collaborators.
