University of Oxford's Cognitive Neuroanatomy Lab seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience to join the ERC project CORTIGRAD. The appointee will synthesize literature, perform cross-species analyses of cortical organisation, and contribute to publications.
You will guide junior researchers and collaborate closely with the PI and team to advance scientific outputs. The role is full-time and fixed-term to 31 May 2028.
Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Cognitive Neuroanatomy Lab, led by Dr Daniel Margulies, to work on the ERC-funded project ‘Cortical gradients of functional integration’ (CORTIGRAD).
The project aims to characterise the organisational principles of the cerebral cortex, and this post will play a central role in bringing together findings across species and imaging modalities into overarching theoretical frameworks.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the post holder will be a member of the Cognitive Neuroanatomy Lab with responsibility for carrying out research for a discrete area of the CORTIGRAD project and will provide guidance to junior members of the research group, including PhD students and research assistants.
The post holder will focus on synthesising the scientific literature, high-quality scientific writing, and cross-species comparative analyses of cortical organisation. The work will include reviewing comparative neuroanatomical and neuroimaging literature across primate and other species, leading and contributing to manuscripts, and carrying out targeted analyses of existing datasets using analytical tools developed within the project.
The post holder will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members to bring the project's key outputs to publication.
For any queries regarding visa sponsorship, HR and the University's Staff Immigration Team will provide advice and assistance when the chosen candidate for the role has been identified.
The post is full time for a fixedterm until the 31st of May 2028
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Wednesday 4th of November 2026 will be considered.
Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
