Job description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available within the group of Professor Giles Yeo at the Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS), focused on mapping the feeding circuitry in human hypothalami from under-weight and obese donors, using single cell and spatial transcriptomic approaches. The work is funded by the BBSRC.

Scientists are encouraged to apply if they have substantial practical experience in the neuroscience of energy balance and metabolism. Applicants should have a background in the generation and analysis of single cell and spatial transcriptomics data. The role holder will be responsible for running their own research projects and will work with a small group of post docs and PhD students who have overlapping expertise.

Major Responsibilities Will Be
  • Generation of single-nucleus RNAseq and spatial transcriptomic data from human hypothalami of lean and obese donors
  • Integrating the single cell and spatial transcriptomic data to form a spatio-cellular map of the human hypothalamus across the weight spectrum

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 December 2026 in the first instance.
