Job summary

The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Chandra Lab to lead a project on the diffuse brain of Hofstenia and how distributed neural tiles give rise to computation and behaviour. You will combine experimental and computational approaches to map circuit architecture, record activity and analyze perturbations.

Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, a strong quantitative background and proven ability to publish rigorous research.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience or related field is required.
• Strong quantitative background is essential.
• Experience with neural recordings, data analysis and high‑dimensional data handling is expected.
• Familiarity with genetic methods to label, record from and perturb cells is preferred.
• Proven track record of publishing rigorous, creative scientific work.

Responsibilities

• Lead an ambitious Hofstenia neuroscience project to uncover how distributed circuits generate adaptive behaviour.
• Develop and apply methods to visualise circuit architecture, record neural activity and study perturbation effects on behaviour.
• Ensure reproducibility and thorough documentation of findings.
• Collaborate with Crick colleagues and potentially external partners; mentor students where appropriate.
• Contribute to writing high‑quality peer‑reviewed articles and grow the lab's research programme.
