Job summary

The University of Oxford Department of Physics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Transient Astrophysics, operating within the TRANSCEND project with partner universities. The role will focus on time-domain astrophysics using Vera Rubin/LSST data and TiDES surveys.

You will lead one of several areas: SNe Ia cosmology groundwork or rare transient follow-up; host galaxies; forward-modelling and selection effects; or TDEs and SMBH demographics.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in physics or related field, or nearing completion.
• Strong background in physics/astrophysics.
• Research experience in time-domain astrophysics, supernovae, galaxy evolution, cosmology or survey science.

Responsibilities

• Lead research in one TRANSCEND area (e.g., SNe Ia cosmology groundwork or rare transient follow-up).
• Collaborate with Oxford and partner universities on TiDES and LSST data.
• Opportunity to teach and disseminate results.
