Job summary

The University of Salford invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher joining the TUNED project, to study drone noise impacts on wildlife and people. You will design field experiments, manage acoustic data and develop open-source analysis pipelines.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD in bioacoustics or related field, with experience in passive acoustic data and ecological fieldwork, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• PhD (or near completion) in bioacoustics, ecology, zoology or related discipline.
• Experience with collecting and analysing passive acoustic data.
• Expertise in experimental design and ecological field work; ability to annotate bioacoustic recordings.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct field experiments to investigate responses of birds to noise.
• Collect, manage and analyse passive acoustic data.
• Annotate and classify bioacoustic data using species classification tools.
• Develop open-source analytical pipelines and metrics to model noise exposure for birds.
