Job summary

University of Manchester in Manchester invites applications for a 12-month full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Tritium Science and Technology (TST) group within the Department of Materials. You will design and conduct experiments on deuterium permeation to support UKAEA LIBRTI, expanding GDPS capabilities and testing materials for future fusion devices.

The candidate should hold a PhD in materials science, physics, or related field, with experimental experience and ideally

Qualifications

• PhD in materials science, physics, or related discipline.
• Experience designing and conducting experiments.
• Desirable: fusion-related research experience.

Responsibilities

• Support UK LIBRTI project through design/testing of deuterium permeation experiments.
• Expand capabilities on UoM's Gas-Driven Permeation System (GDPS).
• Test materials as candidates for hydrogen isotope permeation in future fusion devices.
• Occasional visits to key collaborators and stakeholders.
