Job summary

University of Edinburgh's Institute of Ecology and Evolution invites applications for a 3-year Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a NERC-funded project on adaptive introgression in European butterflies. The PDRA will lead population genomic analyses across two work packages using chromosome-level reference genomes, large WGS datasets, and HPC.

PhD in evolutionary/population genomics required; strong Python/R skills, computational genomics, and statistics.

Qualifications

• PhD in evolutionary/population genomics or related field.
• Strong skills in Python and R.
• Experience with large genomic datasets.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead population genomic analyses across two work packages.
• Perform comparative scans of selective sweeps across butterfly species to study adaptive introgression.
• Analyze a hybrid zone system using whole-genome resequencing and long-read data.
• Collaborate with an RA handling lab work; present at international conferences; supervise project students.
