The post-holder will be attached to the Soft Tissue Knee unit. They will have considerable theatre time with opportunities to undertake cases under appropriate supervision. They will gain exposure to a high-volume soft tissue knee unit and have the opportunity to learn all aspects of soft tissue knee surgery as well as knee preservation and patellofemoral procedures. Due to St George's being a major trauma centre, there is a high number of multi‑ligament knee injuries. There will also be an opportunity to learn hip arthroscopy.
They will be expected to perform daily ward rounds and manage inpatients along with a specialist registrar and physician associates. They will also participate in at least one outpatient clinic per week and may run independent clinics under supervision. Weekend operating rota participation is expected.
The post holder will be expected to complete at least one research project, attend research meetings and will be encouraged to present at international meetings and publish their work.
St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust wishes to appoint a Post CCT Clinical Fellow with an interest in Soft Tissue Knee surgery for a 12-month placement from October 2027 or 2028. Outpatient, day case, elective and emergency inpatient work is currently carried out at the St George’s Hospital site in Tooting with elective work being carried out at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) in Epsom. There will be opportunities to gain operative experience under the supervision of the consultant surgeons. The post holder will be expected to undertake research resulting in publication in a peer‑review journal.
