Job Summary

Postal Couriers are required to maintain an effective, secure, sortation, delivery, and collection service for mail, parcels and routine specimens throughout the Trust. They are also required to work on the Postal reception desk and give advice on National/international courier and mailing systems.

Main Duties
  • Sorting of internal and external mail into pigeonholes quickly and accurately by box number or department name.
  • Delivery and collection of mail to wards and departments across the site to timed schedules in accordance with rounds lists.
  • Collection of routine specimens and delivery to appropriate laboratory to timed schedules in accordance with rounds lists.
  • Delivery of parcels and goods to wards to timed schedules in accordance with rounds lists.
  • Sorting of outgoing mail into appropriate pigeonholes/account codes ready for franking.
  • Provide an efficient, courteous, and friendly service to staff, patients, and other visitors to the postal reception, and ensure waiting time is kept to a minimum.
