Overview

18.5 hours per week. The Fostering and Adoption Team are looking to recruit a Social Worker to focus on the support needs of children living with adults via a Special Guardianship Order (SGO). This role will include an emphasis on placing the safety and welfare of children at the very centre of everything we do.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments of SGO support needs and produce and action SGO support plans, reviewing them regularly.
  • Offer advice, guidance and signposting to Special Guardians, birth parents, other relatives and professionals on SGO-related topics (e.g. keeping in touch arrangements).
  • Work directly with young children, adolescents and adults to support positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Fostering Hubs, Support and Protection Teams, the Virtual School, schools, other professionals and the wider community.
  • Be adaptable in approach and able to manage the emotional demands of the role while maintaining professionalism.
