A leading service provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a Post Room Operative in Portsmouth. The role involves sorting and delivering mail, ensuring secure handling of items, and maintaining an organized workflow. Responsibilities

  • Sort all incoming mail for delivery.
  • Redirect incorrectly addressed mail.
  • Ensure proper handling of special/recorded delivery items.
  • Complete delivery rounds on time.
  • Pick up outgoing mail from collection points.
  • Sort outgoing items into mail categories.
  • Maintain security of mail at all times.
  • Ensure mail delivery trolleys are fit for purpose.

Post Room Operative - Portsmouth - Ongoing Temporary (Immediate Start)

Location: Portsmouth

Hours of Work: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm

Hourly Pay Rate: £16.15p/h Via Umbrella

A World Leading Service Provider who operates on an International scale is seeking an experienced Post Room Operative based in the Portsmouth area on an ongoing temporary contract working in large corporate office site. The successful candidate would ideally need to be very client facing and has good experience working as a post room operative before.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort all incoming mail in preparation for delivery.
  • Redirect all incorrectly addressed mail as appropriate.
  • Ensure all incoming Special/Recorded delivery items are forwarded to the addressee where appropriate.
  • Complete delivery round within scheduled timeframes.
  • Pick up all outgoing mail from collection points within scheduled timeframes
  • Identify all outgoing Special/Recorded delivery items and ensure that the appropriate paperwork has been completed to accompany such items.
  • Sort all outgoing items into internal & external mail
  • Categorise and frank all outgoing external mail ensuring correct postage payment to avoid returned items from Royal Mail
  • Ensure that mail is kept secure at all times.
  • Ensure that mail delivery trolleys are maintained fit for purpose and in line with health and safety legislation.
  • Respond to and complete tasks scheduled or by ad hoc request as per company policy.

  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.
  • Basic IT skills (email, record-keeping systems).
  • Ability to lift and move parcels safely (training provided).
  • Previous experience in a post room, facilities, or admin role is desirable but not essential.
