We are seeking two enthusiastic and experienced Specialty Doctors / Post‑CCT Fellows to join our busy and progressive Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Homerton Healthcare. You will work within a supportive, high‑acuity tertiary service providing outstanding care to a diverse patient population. These posts are ideal for doctors who are either post‑CCT or within 12 months of completing training and looking to gain additional skills and experience in both elective and emergency gynaecology, with opportunities to develop toward a Consultant role or to work toward CESR completion. The successful candidates will join a well‑established team of 16 Consultants, 4 Post‑CCT Fellows, 17 Specialist Registrars / Trust Clinical Fellows, and 16 SHO/FY2 doctors. This post offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen your clinical and managerial experience in preparation for a consultant position. You will undertake independent gynaecology clinics, lead elective Caesarean section lists, and contribute to the ‘Advice and Guidance’ service. There are opportunities to develop special interests in Colposcopy and Vulvoscopy, depending on accreditation and service needs.
The 4 Specialty Doctors/Post‑CCT Fellows participate in a 1:4 full shift rota, providing Senior Registrar‑level night cover alongside another registrar and two SHOs, with a non‑resident consultant on call after 22:00. Example weekly structure: combination of theatres, clinics, SPA, and ‘Advice and Guidance’ sessions, including regular night shifts (fixed weekday and weekend nights).
This is a fixed‑term post for 12 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months. The role is not compliant with the minimum 46‑hour rest period before and after transition between day and night shifts, as per the 2021 Specialty Doctor Contract. Prospective cover for annual leave is not provided.
