Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust invites applicants to apply for the position of Post CCT Fellow in Laryngology. The post is based primarily at Charing Cross campus and will be for a 12-month fixed period commencing 30thof September 2026.
This post is suitable for a Specialist Registrar who holds, or is about to be awarded, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (or equivalent). Applicants should have clinical skills commensurate with a year 6+ SpR and previous experience in Laryngology Surgery is desirable. An intercollegiate examination in Otolaryngology, or equivalent is essential. This Fellowship has Royal College of Surgeons approval.
Charing Cross Hospital is the National Centre for Airway Reconstruction. This post will allow the successful candidate to further his or her knowledge and experience in complex Laryngology surgery. The highly innovative and busy multidisciplinary Airway and Laryngology service is provided by 3 ENT consultants Professor Guri Sandhu, Mr Chadwan Al Yaghchi and Ms Aphrodite Iacovidou and are supported by a team including speech therapists and clinical nurse specialists.
The successful post holder will receive Consultant-led education and supervision and will be supported in their professional development as a Laryngology surgeon and will be expected to be fully registered with a Licence to Practise from the General Medical Council. In addition the post holder would participate in the registrar on call rota.
The successful applicant will take on the role of Senior Laryngology Fellow based at Charing Cross Hospital. This will involving diagnosing and managing patients conditions, making treatment decisions, presenting cases at the multidisciplinary meetings and performing surgery both under supervision and independently. In addition, the Fellow will lead the inpatient team in managing post-operative inpatients and coordinate operating lists.
The post has an important educational role with teaching session for the junior medical staff, nursing staff and allied health professionals. Involvement in research and audit is encouraged and the Fellow will be expected to take on such projects with a view to publication.
